Shillong, Oct 3: Essential supply kits from the Association of Indian Football Coaches were distributed among the football community of Meghalaya today.
In August the AIFC announced the launch of a campaign – Covid-19 Coach Stimulus Program — #AIFCforCoaches, an initiative supported by SportingLions Foundation and GiveIndia Foundation. Maharashtra cabinet minister Aditya Thackeray, who is also the Mumbai District Football Association President and Western India Football Association Vice-President, also pledged his support to help 1,000 coaches around the country as part of the programme.
The packages were distributed by the state programme lead Bobby Lyngdoh Nongbet and coordinator C Freddy Diengdoh.
Supply kits have also been delivered to Punjab, Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and other states.
The AIFC has quite the Shillong connection, with former Shillong Lajong coach Thangboi Singto one of its five directors, while Gumpe Rime (ex-Head of Youth Development at the same club) is the North East zonal lead for this stimulus package.
