Shillong, Apr 20: Rangkynsai moved into the final of the Shillong Cricket Association’s Super Division with a dominant display that gave them victory by 99 runs over Nongmynsong in the first semifinal here today.
Nongmynsong won the toss and opted to field first and were able to bowl out their opponents for 186 in 38.3 overs of the 40 overs-a-side match. The strongest performers with the bat for Rangkynsai were Ajay Duhan (64 off 65 deliveries) and Pankaj Yadav (43 off 68). Shavian Blah was a touch expensive but returned the best figures with 4/48. Sagar Rana (2/13) and Bipin Kumar Roy (2/37) both claimed a brace each.
Rangkynsai were then superb with the ball, with Nicky Dann tearing through the top three batsmen to leave Nongmynsong precariously placed on 29/3. Jaskirat Singh (27 off 26) put up some resistance but Nongmynsong were dismissed for just 87 in 27.2 overs. Dann finished with figures of 4/22, while Ajay Duhan took 3/20 and Pynhun Kharnabi 2/15.
The second semifinal will be between United XI and New Friends Union on 23rd April. The First Division semis will be held tomorrow and day after. In tomorrow’s fixture Sunrise will take on Meghalaya Police while Royal CC will then face Nongkseh the following day.
