Shillong, Jan 31: Nongkrem moved to the top of Group B with a 3-1 victory over Wahingdoh in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
A couple of early goals saw Nongkrem take the lead via Banlumlang Kharsyntiew (6′) before Wahingdoh equalised through Nangiaikara Swer (12′).
In the second half, Samborwell Mynsong (pictured celebrating his brace) scored twice, first off a free-kick in the 61st minute and then off a cross in open play eight minutes later to put Nongkrem into a commanding position from which Wahingdoh didn’t have a response.
This was Nongkrem’s maiden win of the season. They had drawn their opener against Umphrup. For Wahingdoh, this was the second time that they conceded three goals in a game (the first was against Sohiong last week) but at least they got a goal today.
Nongkrem now have four points, the same as Laitkor, but with a better goal difference.
