Shillong, Apr 10: The maiden edition of the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s Football League will begin from 18th April.
Twelve teams have signed up for the event and they have been divided into two groups.
Group A consists of Laitkor SC, Onsides Sports, PFR Football Academy, Rahjingshai S&CC, Mawlai SC and Thynroit S&CC.
Group B comprises Nongkrem SC, Nongkohlew SC, Lumparing SC, Maw U-Tieng SC, Nongthymmai SC and Lawei SC.
The SSA has finalised the first 16 fixtures, with two games scheduled for each matchday. Each team will play the others in their group once.
Matches will be of 30 minutes per half. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. The winners of the final will receive Rs 30,000 in prize money and the runners-up Rs 18,000.
It was originally mooted to begin the league in March but the SSA decided to wait for the school examinations to end first.
