Shillong, Jun 15: The Meghalaya Jeet Kune Do Association’s young martial artists brought home 42 medals from the 9th Northeast Jeet Kune Do Championship in Guwahati recently, including 26 gold.

The championship took place over the weekend at the Cotton College Indoor Stadium.

There were also 14 silver and two bronze medals for the Meghalayan contingent.

Jeet kune do is a form of martial arts conceived by Bruce Lee and was introduced to Meghalaya by Donny R Ranee in 2012.

MJKA fighters have featured at several regional, national and international competitions and won many medals but is still yet to be recognised by the state government or Meghalaya State Olympic Association.

The MJKA will also hold its seventh state level championship towards the end of July, a press release informed.
