Shillong, Dec 30: Nongtalang FC edged Nonglamin FC 5-2 on penalties in the final of the 3rd Knock Out Football Tournament, organised by the St Joseph’s Secondary School in Nongtalang, on Wednesday.
The shootout was required after after the absorbing contest ended 2-2 in open play.
As champions, Nongtalang were awarded Rs 3 lakh, while Nonglamin went home with Rs 2 lakh as runners-up.
Individual awards were also presented at the prize distribution ceremony. The Player of the Final was Niawkorlang Kyndiah of Nonglamin, Best Goalkeeper was Dimanphrang Lyngdoh of Nongtalang, Player of the Tournament was Nonglamin’s Poibiang Pohshna and the Top Scorer was Primrose Lamat of Nongtalang.
