Shillong, Nov 11: Nongkseh SC delivered something of a surprise by demolishing Tynring SC 5-0 in the fourth and last quarterfinal of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division at First Ground, Polo, here today.

Tony Syngkli put in a brace for Nongkseh, scoring in the 65th and 68th minutes and, earlier, his team mates Rishan Mylliem Umlong (5′), Albert Nongsiej (34′) and Samphrangshai Rani (47′) contributed one each.

Both sides were unbeaten in the group stage, with Tynring coming out on top of Group D with three wins and a draw.

Nongkseh, on the other hand, had only picked up one win but three draws ensured that they were second in Group C. Before today they had only scored 5 goals while conceding 4.

The semifinals will take place sometime this month. The schedule gets changed around so much it’s better we wait until closer to the day to confirm them.

The line-up is at least confirmed, with Meghalaya Police to take on PFR Football Academy, while Mylliem Lum will face Nongkseh.
