Shillong, Feb 21: Malki SC won an important victory in their last match of the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Malki were 3-1 victors over Mylliem SC, which took them to third in the points table, while Mylliem dropped to fifth.
Although missing out on promotion, third place is a decent result for Malki as they sought to recover from a disastrous last season in the Shillong Premier League in 2022, which saw them relegated.
Today saw Malki come from a goal down to win the match, with Janhameshwa Marngar putting Mylliem into the lead in the 11th minute.
All of Malki’s goals in response came in the remaining minutes of the first half – via Maxcimilando Tariang (27′, 40′) and Pynkhlain Nongrum (35′).
The season ending fixture is scheduled for Saturday at 2:15PM between Nongrim Hills SC and Laitkor SC. The match will decide the champions, with Nongrim Hills merely needing a draw and Laitkor a victory. Both clubs have already guaranteed themselves promotion to next season’s SPL.
