Shillong, Oct 24: Shillong Lajong FC have roped in a new midfielder for the upcoming I-League 2024-25 season.
The club announced on social media yesterday that it had signed Imanol Arana Sadaba of Spain.
After playing practically all his club football in his native country, the 27-year-old Imanol featured for Punjab-based Namdhari FC in I-League 2023-24 where he performed impressively in the 22 matches he was utilised and scored four goals.
Lajong have recently announced the addition of numerous personnel to their side as they get ready for the upcoming season. Local player Sheen Sohktung returns to the side, while Birendra Thapa rejoins as assistant coach under Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia.
All four Brazilians – Marcos Rudwere Genar Silva, Daniel Goncalves, Douglas Tardin and Renan Paulino de Souza – that SLFC had on board last season have also been retained for 2024-25.
