Shillong, Feb 19: It came down to the wire but Sporting CC held their nerve to beat Sputnik Spartan CC by 1 run in a Group A match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here yesterday.
Sporting won the toss and chose to bat first but were bowled out for under 200. Avinash Rai hit an impressive 72 in 86, however, as his team were out for 197 in 41.2 overs. Suraj Chettri contributed a further 33 from 41. Dilwar Khan (4/33 in 8.2 overs) and Tarjinder Singh (3/29 in 9) were the most impressive bowlers.
In reply, Sputnik Spartan were all out for 196 in 42 overs. There was 40 from 49 for Supriyo Chanda and 35 from 73 from Kishlay Vishlux. Indrajit Rai bowled 3/32 in 8 overs while Sachin Kumar (pictured) claimed 3/33 in 8. The latter also hit 20 with the bat and was named Player of the Match.
Today’s match will be between Rangkynsai CC and NFU in Group B from 8:30AM.
