Shillong, Mar 18: Nongtraw Wahlong FC defeated Meghalaya Police 2-0 in the final of the 1st Invitational Football Knockout Tournament 2024-2025, organised by the Seng Samla Mawmluh Smit, on Tuesday.

Each half saw one goal scored, the first in the 20th minute by Donlad Diengdoh, while the second was provided by Rhuhi Pale (70′). MLP were denied on several occasions by Nongtraw Wahlong goalkeeper Rajat Paul Lyngdoh, who was the hero between the sticks on the day.

As champions, Nongtraw Wahlong received Rs 3 lakh in prize money, while the police team took home Rs 1.5 lakh.

Rajat Paul was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, while Donlad was the Player of the Tournament. Meding Makdoh of YBSC Shella was the Top Scorer.

The Sordar Shnong of Smit, Dr Pynshongdor Lyngdoh Nongbri, was the chief guest and members of Smit’s Executive Committee were also present.
