Shillong, Jun 15: The 7th Meghalaya Masters TT Team Championship was held here on Saturday.

The event was organised by the Meghalaya Veteran Table Tennis Association, which conducts the tournament annually to commemorate World Environment Day.

Table tennis players of yesteryear from the different districts of Meghalaya participated across eight teams in two groups.

The eight teams were given names themed around the environment – Go Green, Stay Fit, Save Fuel, Swachh Bharat, Save Trees, Save Water, Save Earth and Protect Nature.

The champions were Save Trees comprising Sarwan Gareri (captain), Ranjan Deb, Ridip Gogoi, Michael Francis and Jayant P Rao.

The runners-up were Go Green (Kyrshan Ranee (captain), W Zimik, S Pyngrope, Bishnu P Joshi and Kiran Thapa).

The Best Player award went to Arup Nag of Tura from the Save Fuel team.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by noted environmentalist Nababrata Bhattacharjee as chief guest and Meghalaya Table Tennis Association Secretary Bantylli L Narry as guest of honour.
