Shillong, Sep 1: Phoebe Dale Nongrum has created history at the Dakshin Dare Cross Country Rally 2025 by becoming the first woman in the history of the event to secure three podium finishes.
Competing in the grueling five-day rally, which flagged off from Bengaluru, traversed through Andhra Pradesh before returning to Bengaluru, Phoebe showcased extraordinary grit and skill alongside her navigator, Venu Kumar from Coimbatore, a six-time two-wheeler rally champion.
Phoebe’s remarkable performance brought her three podium positions – third place in the T1 Modified Car category, winner of the Ladies’ category and fourth place in the overall standings (the Top 5 are all considered podium finishers).
“This historic feat not only cements Phoebe’s place in Indian motorsport but also sets a new benchmark for women rally drivers in the country. Her achievement highlights the growing presence and impact of women in the adrenaline-charged world of motorsports,” the Meghalaya Motorsports Society said in a press release today.
Speaking after the rally, Phoebe expressed her gratitude towards her navigator, her team and her supporters, saying that this victory was as much about teamwork and perseverance as it was about personal determination.
