Shillong, Sep 7: The Inter School Basketball Tournament 2025, organised by DUBAKH Sports Pvt Ltd, tipped off with high intensity and exciting action on the opening day at Pearly Dew Higher Secondary School here yesterday.
Day 1 witnessed five competitive matches across participating schools, setting the tone for an electrifying tournament ahead.
Present at the opening was the Meghalaya Basketball Association General Secretary Wallambok Iawphniaw and members of the East Khasi Hills District Basketball Association.
Mizo Modern Higher Secondary were involved twice in the day, starting with the opening match of the tournament where they were 39-13 winners against Mawkhar Christian Higher Secondary. A Das and L Mizar scored 8 and 10 points respectively for the victors, with S Thabah producing 7 for Mawkhar Christian.
Following that, also in Group A, Jaiaw Presbyterian HSS won the match of the day against St Edmund’s 46-43. A whopping 27 points was scored by Jaiaw Presbyterian’s G Umlong alone.
In Group B, Pearly Dew dominated Shillong Public School in a 34-23 victory, with D Suting contributing 19 points to the winners.
The penultimate match, also in Group B, saw Little Flower HSS win 36-29 against Dinet Manik Memorial HSS. Here G Kharbuki scored 24 points for Little Flower.
St Edmund’s and Mizo Modern were back in action in the last match of the day and it went down to the wire, with St Edmund’s pulling off a sensational 39-38 win. D Kharbuki scored 13 points for St Edmund’s and B Ryntong 10 for Mizo Modern.

The tournament’s second day will be held on 13th September.
