Shillong, Jun 11: Downgate FC won the 2nd Youth Development Football League 2026, an all-India invitation championship organised by the Ri Han Axel Foundation. The tournament was held in Assam at the Hajo Mini Stadium.

In this competition, different clubs and academies from across the North East participated featuring players under the age of 15.

In the final held on 4th June, Downgate faced Pay For Right Academy from Shillong. The match was highly competitive and neither team was able to score in regulation time, leading the match to be decided through a tie-breaker that Downgate won 4–3.

Individual awards were also presented and Wanshan Thabah from Downgate was named Best Goalkeeper.

The Downgate team was led by head coach David Marwein, with Riba Manih serving as the assistant coach.
