Shillong, Jul 4: Step By Step Secondary School, Wapung Higher Secondary School and Lotus SS won all three titles between them in the East Jaintia Hills’ District Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Cup 2026.

The tournament, organised by the District Sport Officer, began on 16th June and culminated yesterday at the East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association Football Ground in Deinchynrum.

Step By Step won the U-15 boys’ title and Wapung the U-17 boys’ division, while Lotus were the U-17 girls’ champions.

In the U-15 boys’ final Step By Step defeated Musniang SS 1-0, while Wapung edged Sein Raij Tuber HSS 4-3 in the tiebreaker to decide the U-17 boys’ winners. The girls from Lotus, meanwhile, beat Khliehriat HSS 2-0.

Individual prizes were also handed out during the prize distribution ceremony that followed.

In the U-15 boys’ category Wanbanshan Lamare (Step By Step) was named Best Goalkeeper and Daowan Rymbai (Musniang) Best Player.

In U-17 boys’ category Redeemingson Phawa (Wapung) was Best Goalkeeper and Jefferson Phawa (school unknown) Best Player.

In the U-17 girls’ category Haphisuk Lyngdoh (Lotus) was Best Goalkeeper and Saphapaya Lyngdoh (school unknown) Best Player.

Dignitaries present on the concluding day included District School Education Officer R Diengdoh, District Sports Officer SM Rapsang and District Public Relations Officer ES War, among others.
