Shillong, Jan 8: A stunning extra time performance saw Jalapang SC soar to a 6-2 victory over Nongdawah SC in the final of the 8th Invitation Knockout Football Tournament, organised by Wahiajer SC, today.

After regulation time (80 minutes in this tournament) the two sides were locked 2-2 but three goals from Kitbok Pale (87′, 89′, 94′) and one by Kynsai Lhuid (96′) ended any chance for Nongdawah.

Chanmitre Thma had put Nongdawah in front in the 40th minute before Oliver Pale equalised in the 57th. Shano Tariang (65′) then had Nongdawah ahead again and they had victory almost within their grasp but Kitbok (80’+4) netted a second equaliser in stoppage time.

He then made extra time his own in what was a stunning turnaround. Kitbok was unsurprisingly named Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament. His team mates Stephan Pale was the Top Scorer with seven goals and Daemitre Dan was named Best Goalkeeper.

The champions received a cheque of Rs 2.3 lakh and the runners-up Rs 1.2 lakh. The Superintendent of Police of West Jaintia Hills, Chemphang Syrti, was the chief guest.
