Mawpat go down to Sohra
Shillong, Jan 10: Little Star Football Academy came from two goals down to defeat Lumshyiap FC 5-4 on the third day of the U-16 Republic Cup here on Wednesday with Beki Nongrang scoring four goals for the winners.
The second match of the day saw Sohra easily get past Mawpat 4-0 in Group B.
The Group A match was a thrilling contest between the two teams, with Max Millan Khyriem (7′) and Fairbornson Lyngdoh (15′) putting Lumshyiap ahead early on, but Nongrang (21′) and Habbynmutlang Nongsiej (23′) equalised proceedings for Little Star.
It was then Little Star that took the lead in the 36th minute, but Lumshyiap cancelled that out just a minute later through Khyriem. Nongrang, however, scored a further two goals for Little Star (47′, 51′) to give his side a 5-3 lead, which Lumshyiap reduced by one when Andy Joey Laloo scored the final goal of the game in the 55th minute.
In the other game, Sohra breezed past Mawpat. Evanmiki Khongwar (48′, 65′) picked up a brace of goals, while Sainkupar Lynrah (31′) and Mebanshan Laloo (43′) scored one each.
Lumshyiap will be back in action tomorrow, taking on Umroh in Group A at 9:00am, while Upper Shillong face Langsning in Group B at 11:00am.
