Shillong, Dec 24: The 6th Meghalaya Tennis Tournament concluded on Saturday at the Shillong Club tennis courts.

In the men’s singles final Sanjeev Chettri came from a set down to beat Stardiness Kharsyntiew 4-6, 6-1, 7-6. The women’s singles final saw Nisha Singh beat Jwallita Johnson 10-8.

There appears to have been few takers in the women’s categories, with no doubles or junior results supplied by the Meghalaya Tennis Association in their press release issued today.

However, in men’s doubles Chettri partnered with Vishal Amarnani to win the final against Kharsyntiew and Pankaj Kapoor in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

In the U-16 boys’ singles final Damepyndap Kasoo was a straight sets winner over Alfredo Nongrum 6-4, 7-6. The U-12 boys’ singles final saw Rakshit Bajaj defeat Soham Agarwal 10-3.

Ampareen Lyngdoh MLA was the chief guest on the final day, while new East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner and former Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Matsiewdor War Nongbri was the guest of honour. Shillong Club directors were also present on the occasion.
