Shillong, Nov 19: Nongmynsong and Laitlyngkot were locked at 0-0 until the final whistle in Group C of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division at Polo Ground here today.
In the earlier match, Umpling defeated Umlyngka 2-1. Freddy Jyrwa (33′, 47′) scored for the victors, with Riewdonsap Swer (50′) pulling one back for Umlyngka. Neither side had scored a point or even scored a goal in the previous two rounds, so today’s fixture was more for pride, as well as to avoid relegation.
The later contest was important with regards to the question of who would progress to the quarterfinals but offered no answer to the question. Nongmynsong have finished with their group fixtures and have seven points from four outings. Laitlyngkot, unbeaten, also have seven points but with one match to go next week, while Sohryngkham are third with six points from three games, leaving Group C still wide open.
