Shillong, Apr 28: The office of the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the District Sports Officer organised a 10km run as part of the celebrations of the North East Festival 2022 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav here today.
Hepstarly Lyngkhoi crossed the finish line first in the male category with a time of 33:03.53 minutes, around eight seconds ahead of second-placed Emphuis Nongrum (33:11.59), who was in turn a minute ahead of the third-placed Wolbetstar Ramsiej (34:18.15).
The women’s event was won by Lyntijingkyrmen Kharjahrin (43:32.04), with second place claimed by Marqueenless Ramsiej (45:24.02) and third by Claire Jone Jala Kharbhih (46:01.01).
There was also recognition for Medari Tham, the oldest female contestant, Ksanbor Kharmawphlang, the oldest male contestant, and the two youngest – Charleen Wahlang (female) and Sainkupar Jyrwa (male).
The route began and ended at the Home Guard & Civil Defence premises in Mawdiangdiang.
