Shillong, May 16: Rahjingshai were held to a surprise 2-2 draw by Onsides Sports in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
This was Onsides’ first point of the tournament. They took the lead in the ninth minute via Jerina Mawlong but two quick goals from Lily L Nongkynrih (20’) and Fragrancy Riwan (22’) swung the game in Rahjingshai’s favour.
However, Makrisha Songthiang equalised for Onsides in the 46th minute of the hour-long match to grab a point for her team. After four rounds, Rahjingshai have 7 points with one game to go against second-placed Mawlai, who also have 7 points but with a game in hand.
Earlier, the Group B fixture between Lawei and Nongkrem also ended in a draw, this time 1-1.
Deiphibamon Warbah grabbed the lead for Nongkrem in under 60 seconds from the start and Sannity Jyndiang restored parity in the 44th minute.
This was the first time that Lawei conceded a goal in four games. They lead the Group B standings with 8 points, while Nongkrem are fourth with 5.
