Shillong, Aug 29: Lawmali SC were 4-1 victors in Group C of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day finished 1-1 between Sanmer SC and Rynjah SC in Group D.
Four out of five Group D games this season have ended in draws but Rynjah were hoping to take 3 points after they bagged the lead in the 12th minute through Banshailang Khyriem and then held on to it right up until the end of the match when Mebankyrshan Khongsam (88′) equalised for Sanmer.
The earlier fixture didn’t look like ending in a draw at all, at least not after Lawmali pulled out a 3-0 lead in a little over half an hour.
Playerson Nongkseh (20′), Richmon Buam (22′) and Dameshwa Malngiang (34′) put Lawmali into a commanding position before Rishikesh Gautam (43′) managed to reduce the margin for Gorkha Association before half time.
There was just one goal in the second half, with Playerson (54′) netting his second for Lawmali’s second win in two games. This was, by contrast, Gorkha Association’s second straight defeat.
