Shillong, May 24: Nongkrem pulled off what was a stunning comeback in the U-18 Shillong Premier League today by overcoming a three-goal deficit to defeat Lawsohtun 4-3 at Third Ground, Polo, today.
Neither side had won their opening fixture, Lawsohtun drawing 0-0 with Shillong Lajong and Nongkrem getting hammered by Langsning 8-0.
Today Lawsohtun scored all three of their goals in the opening half an hour via Blashan Nongkynrih (7′), Ronaldo Iawbor (29′) and Bantip Marwein (30′).
Conceding three goals in 30 minutes must’ve acted as a wake-up call for Nongkrem, as they began to turn things around, pulling two goals back in the remaining minutes of the first half thanks to Builderstone Warkhyllew (36′) and Bankitlang Mylliemngap (40′).
Still trailing by a goal, Nongkrem found the equaliser through Wanhiambok Mawthoh in the 51st minute before Mylliemngap scored his second goal, and Nongkrem’s winner, in the 74th.
Tomorrow defending champions Langsning are scheduled to take on Nangkiew Irat at 3:45PM.
