Shillong, Aug 21: After several years growing up at Shillong Lajong, midfielder Hardycliff Nongbri has headed to Kolkata club Southern Samity for the Calcutta Premier League.
“I had the most wonderful 7 years journey with Shillong Lajong,” Nongbri posted on his Instagram handle yesterday. “The team was and is more like a family to me. It had helped me to grow as a person and also in many aspects. I have learned so much and the team as a whole inspired me to work even harder.”
After progressing through the junior teams, Nongbri made his I-League debut for Lajong during the 2015-16 season and made a total of 25 appearances in the I-League. Recovering from injury meant that he was on the field for only five matches last season, which was disappointing after he showed such great promise in the 2017-18 I-League, playing in 16 of 18 games and earning one man-of-the-match award.
His former Lajong team mate Samuel Shadap is also now at Southern Samity, having joined the Kolkata club last month.
