Shillong, Apr 13: The 2020 edition of the Mawkyrwat Ultra marathon has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organisers informed today.
In a post on its Facebook page today morning, RunMeghalaya said, “The Mawkyrwat Ultra has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Keep running and stay safe,” adding, in reply to a comment, “This is the new normal now. Till the global situation improves.”
This would have been the fourth edition of the race, which is typically held towards the end of October.
Given that October is still six months away, some members of the public expressed hoped that there will be enough time to hold the race by then or at least reschedule it.
