Shillong, Nov 19: The Indian Arrows are set to begin their camp ahead of the 2020-21 season of the I-League, which is expected to begin in January.
Part of the 28-member squad called for the camp is Meghalaya midfielder Ricky John Shabong, the All India Football Federation announced today. The camp will be held in Bhubaneshwar from tomorrow.
Shabong played in 16 I-League games for the Arrows last season and was on the pitch for more than 1,400 minutes. He also played an integral part in India’s run to the quarterfinals of the Asian Football Confederation’s U-16 Championship 2018 in Malaysia.
This will be the first time that the developmental team have trained together since the chaos wreaked by the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, which cut short last season’s I-League.
The safety of the players and staff is the “top priority”, the AIFF said.
Incoming players and support staff must get a RT-PCR test done prior to their departure from their hometowns. If the result comes back negative, they can proceed to travel with necessary precautions.
After reaching Bhubaneswar, a rapid antigen test has to be done and if the result is negative, they can proceed to their respective rooms for seven days of room quarantine. After successful quarantine without any signs or symptoms of Covid-19, they have to be retested using RT-PCR on the eighth day after arrival before joining training.
