Shillong, Mar 8: Ri-Bhoi United FC put up a spirited fight to overcome a first leg deficit and defeat Assam Regimental Centre 4-3 on aggregate after the second leg of their semifinal in the Invitation Knock Out Football Tournament 2022-23 at New Nongstoin yesterday.

In the first leg of the semifinal, ARC had beaten Ri-Bhoi United 2-1 on 11th February.

Yesterday’s result saw RBU win 3-1.

All four goals came in the second half, with ARC extending their advantage in the 46th minute with a goal by H Naoba Meitei.

However, parity was restored in the 71st minute with an own goal by Assam Regiment and substitute Aibiang Nongeng then gave Ri-Bhoi United the lead in the 72nd minute.

This put the aggregate score on 3-3 and Mebankhraw Wahlang put United into the overall lead in the 86th minute and the team held on for the win.

Batskhem Thangkhiew was named Player of the Match.
