Shillong, Apr 2: The 2nd Shortimai Football Knockout Tournament came to end in Smit on Saturday with Ehrngiew FC defeating Jaguar FC 3-2 in the final.

The tournament, which began on 6th February, was organised by the Seng Samla Smit Pyllun. The champions were awarded Rs 2.2 lakh and runners-up Rs 1.1 lakh.

Dawanchwa Carlos Challam scored early for Ehrngiew but the Jaguar pulled level in the 22nd minute thanks to Wadajied Kynsai Ryngkhlem and 1-1 is how the first half ended.

In the second session, both teams fought well and in the 50th minute Shaiborlang Nongrum put Ehrngiew in front once again. This time the lead only lasted two minutes as L Singha converted a penalty for the Jaguars.

The winner was finally provided by Ehrngiew’s Kitboklang Pale in the 58th minute.

Individual awards were also handed out at the prize distribution ceremony. The Player of the Final was Ehrngiew’s Balamlynti Khongjee. The tournament’s Top Scorer was Shaitborlang Kharkrang of Mylliem Lum while the Best Player was Dawanchwa, who scored the first goal today. His team mate Daemitre Dan was named Best Goalkeeper.

The Seng Samla Smit Pyllun expressed its thanks to all those who made this tournament successful.
