Shillong, Jun 17: Little Star Higher Secondary School, Jakrem Presbyterian HSS and Tenset SS won the U-15 boys’, U-17 girls’ and U-17 boys’ titles at the District Level Inter-School Subroto Cup 2024 in South West Khasi Hills.
The tournament ran from 4th to 14th June and was organised by the office of the District Sports Officer at the MDSA Football Playground, Pyndeniewlyngdoh Playground and Rowell Lyngdoh Playground.
A total of 36 schools participated, with 27 teams in the U-15 boys’ category, 18 contesting the U-17 boys’ and 16 the U-17 girls’.
The finals of the three categories were held at the MDSA Football Playground in Mawkyrwat with dignitaries present including Deputy Superintendent of Police D Mawlein, District Sports Officer Damang Syngkon, Mawkyrwat District Sports Association General Secretary P Wanniang, Mawlangwir SC President SK Budnah, Nonglang SC President K Kharlyngdoh and local football star Chesterpaul Lyngdoh, among others.
All three finals were won on penalties (the exact scores were not provided in the official press release).
The U-15 boys’ final was won by Little Star over Rangthong Christian HSS. The latter were also runners-up in the U-17 girls’ final, losing to Jakrem Presbyterian. Tenset then won the U-17 boys’ final against Mawjarain Presbyterian SS.
