Shillong team to face Jamshedpur FC tomorrow
Shillong, Apr 3: After three home matches Langsning FC will play their first Second Division League away match at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur against the reserve side of Indian Super League team Jamshedpur FC in Group C tomorrow at 5PM.
Langsning opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC reserves on 14th March and then drew 1-1 with Bengaluru FC reserves on 19th March. However, the Shillong team could not extend their unbeaten run any further as they went down by a narrow 1-0 margin to TRAU FC exactly a week later.
Jamshedpur will be a new challenge as the change in conditions will be something that the Langsning players will have to adapt quickly to.
“We are under a great deal of pressure because of the weather. The players’ confidence was a little bit down after losing to TRAU, but the coaching staff have worked hard to motivate the boys since then,” coach Hering Shangpliang said.
Langsning have been affected by some injuries, such as those to Japanese midfielder Kento Sakurai and forward Ebormi Buam, but there was also good news last game in the return of defender Poibiang Pohshna, who was commended for his performance by Shangpliang.
Victory will be crucial for Langsning as they are one of three teams on 4 points, the other two being TRAU and Jamshedpur. Mohammedan Sporting are currently leading Group C with 6 points from two consecutive wins.
Meanwhile, tomorrow’s hosts started their Second Division campaign with a defeat at Mohammedan before drawing at home with TRAU 1-1 and then beating Chennaiyin FC reserves 3-2.
Having not lost at home so far will give the Jamshedpur lads great confidence and Langsning will have their task cut out as they battle for a victory and three full points.
