Shillong, Aug 16: Mawkhar jumped to the top spot in the First Division with a 2-1 victory over Sawmer at the JN Stadium here today.
These two teams entered today’s contest with Mawkhar ahead by one point, but with Sawmer having a game in hand.
Aenam Jyrwa scored a brace for Mawkhar with goals in the 17th and 60th minutes before Sawmer’s Gamelial Kharlyngdoh pulled one back in the 81st.
With a three-place jump, Mawkhar are now in first position on 11 points, but have played more games than any other side except for Marbisu. Sawmer stay rooted in fifth place.
Tomorrow Nongkrem are scheduled to face Smit at 3:30PM.
