Shillong, Apr 6: Raj Bhavan defeated Sunrise CC by a convincing 114 runs in the final of the Shillong Cricket League’s First Division at Polo Ground here today.
Raj Bhavan started the day well by winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
With a half-century by Robin Chettri, who struck 61 from 45 deliveries, Raj Bhavan were able to post 201 all out in 35 overs. Vishal Konwar also contributed to the total with a welcome 34 from 35 balls. Sunrise’s most successful bowlers were Arbind Kumar (3/36) and Basant Chettri (3/45).
Sunrise were unable to really get going in the chase as they were pegged back by the regular fall of wickets, mainly to Tarik Sinha (4/7) and Sanjeev Chettri (3/12). Bishnu Mahato scraped together 26 but his was the lone success and Sunrise were all out for just 87 in 21.3 overs.
Robin bagged the Player of the Match award for his rollicking fifty and his team mate Vishal was named Player of the Series.
