Shillong, Apr 28: OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School won the final of the U-13 Inter School Futsal Competition for boys by storming back from three goals down to beat H Elias Memorial 4-3 at the Laban Indoor Stadium here yesterday.
The tournament began on Thursday and was inaugurated by star Meghalaya footballer Eugeneson Lyngdoh. There were around 10 teams that took part. The competition was organised in a league format over the first two days, with the top two teams from each group then graduating to the semifinal round, which was held in the early part of Saturday, prior to the final.
At the closing ceremony Wanshwadame Diengdoh of OM Roy was also named player-of-the-tournament.
East Khasi Hills District Sports Officer Daniel Dan was chief guest at the final, with another top Meghalaya footballer, Redeem Tlang, was the guest of honour.
