Shillong, Jul 12: Sawmer qualified for the final of the U-18 Shillong Premier League after securing a 1-1 draw with Rangdajied United here today.

In the last league stage match for either team Sawmer did what they had to do to guarantee a place in the top two. Sawmer are now tied with Langsning on 18 points. Head-to-head doesn’t separate the two as they each won one game against each other. However, Langsning did score more goals over the two matches (3 to 2).

In today’s game Rangdajied missed an early penalty but then went ahead in the second minute of first half stoppage time via a header by Donkupar Marngar. Restorewell Marbaniang then equalised for Sawmer in the 63rd minute and his team held on to the end for that vital draw.

The points table as of 12th July

RUFC needed to win the game to make it to the final. As it is, they stay in third place.

Tomorrow Shillong Lajong, who were the champions last year but out of the running for a place in the top two, take on Nangkiew Irat at 3:45PM.
