Shillong, May 22: Mawkhar pulled off a smashing 5-0 victory over Ryntih in their U-18 Shillong Premier League meeting at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
This was Mawkhar’s first win of the season after drawing their opening fixture last year, while it was Ryntih’s second straight heavy defeat.
Bansanbha Khongsdam scored from close range in the 15th minute to give Mawkhar the lead and his side doubled their advantage exactly 10 minutes later when Aenam Jyrwa skipped past two defenders and shot low. Ryntih’s goalkeeper didn’t collect it cleanly and Banehskhem Khongsdam finished off the rebound.
Two penalties were awarded to Mawkhar in the second half, with Aibiang Nongneng (66′) and Charles Lyngdoh (72′) converting from the spot. Arlangky Nongsiej then finished off proceedings with an 85th minute goal.
Tomorrow Nongrim Hills are scheduled to take on Rangdajied United at 3:45PM.
