Shillong, Nov 5: Laban will definitely finish in the relegation zone of the Shillong Premier League after being defeated by Ryntih 3-1 at the JN Stadium here today.
In the first leg Ryntih defeated Laban 1-0 on the very first day of the season, back on 20th August.
Today Badonkupar Marbaniang scored in the 22nd and 36th minutes with his team mate Robert Khongjoh making it 3-0 in the 40th.
Bickyson Kharkongor pulled one back for Laban in the 61st minute.
Marbaniang chipped a ball over Laban goalkeeper Mohammed Shahanas for the opening goal and then Laban were guilty of two of some of the worst ball giveaways to concede the next two goals.
First a ball along the ground went straight through Rakesh Masih, enabling Marbaniang to score his second (Masih was immediately substituted after his error), while Khongjoh pinched the ball away from Shahanas after the latter couldn’t make up his mind where to kick it.
Ryntih appeared to take Laban a little easily in the second half and weren’t all that convincing, but, in truth, they didn’t have to be. Stephanson Pale produced a terrific run up the left and delivered a stinging cross that was volleyed home by substitute Bickyson Kharkongor for Laban’s only goal.
Ryntih now have 20 points with one game to play and stay in third spot. Laban remain at the very bottom with six points and there is no way that they can move out of the drop zone now.
On Friday Shillong Lajong are scheduled to face Langsning at 2:45PM.
