Shillong, Apr 19: A good bowling performance was not enough for Meghalaya to avoid defeat by 49 runs to Rajasthan in their Senior Women’s T20 League Elite Group A match in Puducherry today.

Rajasthan batted first after winning the toss but were kept down to 119/6 in their 20 overs, with Ajima Sangma (2/28) claiming two of the wickets, Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai an economical 1/17 in four overs and Sandria Momin 1/27.

Riticia Nongbet and Rebeldalis Syiemlieh also reacted sharply in the field to effect two run outs.

Debasmita Dutta then produced a solid 23 off 25 deliveries while Rajni Lodhi contributed 16 off 22 but, otherwise Meghalaya never really got going in the chase and finished all out for 70.

Meghalaya will next be up against Maharashtra on Thursday.
